My name is Juan Rivas. I´m Chilean and I always had the willingness to learn and understand new vocabulary so, even when I was in primary school, I had already decided to study something related to languages. In the end, I chose translation, because the course of study was focused in the deep structures of, in this case, English and Spanish. I got my degree last year with distinction after showing my finished thesis project which involved the translation of a novel by Peter Straub and an investigation about the deviation from language natural manners when translating a literary work under the parameters propounded by Peter Newmark. After that, I found my first job as an English teacher at Tronwell and travelled to Brazil with only one idea in my mind: learn Portuguese. I achieved that through self-study, reading a lot, talking with people on the street and taking notes of the grammar differences and similarities between English, Spanish and Portuguese. Now I am back to Chile out to show that, if I am given the opportunity, I can translate everything.
