There's nothing better than having a storyteller's heart revealed in writing. I have implemented writing in every aspect of my life but never shared it publicly.
Being a grandmother and having more time around my young grandchildren, I discovered that when you take time to observe their emotions, listen to them share their thoughts, and embrace their concerns, it often takes you back to a time in your childhood when you were encouraged in a situation that they might be experiencing and can share those experiences with them.
I was encouraged to write New Can Be Scary by a children's author friend. It is essential that children's books appeal not just to the aesthetic side of kids but also challenge them socially. Developing problem-solving skills and learning healthy ways to embrace life's realities can never be taught too young.
Writing has always been a source of joy and inspiration for me. Throughout my career I was involved at the corporate level in many aspects of writing from the journalistic aspect to technical reports. I participated in the development of instructional manuals, policies and procedures, classroom materials, risk management reports, corporate guidelines, etc.
I have also published a non-fiction adult book, Extraordinarily Crafted. I am excited to learn more from my grandchildren that will lend to me writing more children's books.
New Can Be Scary is available on Amazon in Kindle and paperback.
