I am a professional French translator and had my master's in Translation at the University Stendhal in Grenoble, France. Long stays and internships in the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain as well as my taste for foreign TV shows and music have allowed me to become fluent in English, Italian and Spanish and to constantly keep improving on cultural and linguistic levels. My new challenge is now to learn Chinese.
In the course of my studies and internships, experiences, and research, I have had the opportunity to acquire a large range of skills from simultaneous and consecutive interpretation to audiovisual, technical, legal, advertising and medical translation. This diversity in techniques has rendered me more flexible. Though I have decided to specialize in the translation of contents regarding well-being, health, self-development, spirituality and evolution.
I worked with the Idries Shah Foundation for their website and Wikipedia page, as well as Cheng Ming Europe Martial Arts School (French and English website versions) where I spent the last three years practicing martial arts (qi gong, taiji, kungfu, xingyi, and bagua zhang).
I have also been translating for Kingsley L. Dennis, PhD, a sociologist, researcher, and writer, specialized in social futures; technology and new media communications; global affairs; and conscious evolution.
Here is a reference from Kingsley L. Dennis ([email protected]):
"I have known Jennifer Dureau for several years in her capacity as a translator of English-French of many of my works. Over the years Jennifer has translated over twenty of my articles, many of them on complex and intricate subjects such as quantum science, human consciousness, changing social patterns, and global technologies. She has also recently finished the full translation, into French, of one of my books. I find her work to be meticulous and of the highest quality. Jennifer is very thorough in her work, and takes great effort to produce the best that she is capable of. For me this reflects her personality, in that she shows a keen willingness to develop herself and her work constantly. She is always looking for improvement, and shows a conscientious attitude.
In our spoken communication too I have been impressed by her fluency in the English language, and her knowledge of an almost-native range of nuances in vocabulary and inferences. The accuracy of her accent too would leave one to believe she has spent most of her life in the UK, which is not the case. Jennifer displays a strong personal drive to develop her already broad range of foreign language abilities, which I know already includes Spanish and Italian. In her enthusiasm I would imagine that Jennifer would be an asset to any organization that employed her, or which collaborated with her on projects. I wish Jennifer well in her chosen path, and trust that she will use her capabilities to the full."
