I am an English to Spanish translator graduated from Universidad de Tarapacá (Arica-Chile).
I have always been interested in literature. I love spending time reading and getting absorbed by different worlds. Every single character is a different universe that I can discover.
When I decided I wanted to study translation, I knew immediately what was the field I wanted to cover: literary. Why? Because I found out how bad translations can affect the readers' interpretation of a literary work. I would become really upset when coming across a bad translation. When I was student, I loved spotting those bad translations and show them to my professors to discuss them in class.
My BA dissertation consisted of the translation of and commentary on the first chapter of the book “Blood on the Dining Room Floor” by Gertrude Stein. It was a challenging job, but I really learned how to assimilate different writing styles and different point of views.
