Born in 1987, I read through most of my life, finishing high school in 2005. I started studying Translation and Languages at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, as well as doing two diplomas to become a qualified Pharmacist's Assistant. I received my degree (NWU) and accreditation (SATI) in Translation Studies in 2012, as well as my final diploma as a Qualified Post-Basic Pharmacist's Assistant (SAPC).
Since then, I have been working in pharmacies by day and doing freelance medical translation for Alpha-Pharm South Africa from English to Afrikaans in my spare time. I have also done some translation in the insurance field, as well as whatever I can find that interests me.
During my years at university, I studied various other languages, including German, French, Latin, Dutch and Setswana, and I see myself as someone with a passion for all different languages and their intricacies.
I am well-read and thoroughly enjoy exploring new fields of expertise, especially if I get the chance to enable Afrikaans-speaking people to read quality work in their own language, which has been developed to a tertiary level in less than 200 years - an amazing feat which I am immensely proud of. Afrikaans is one of the youngest languages in the world, and I love thinking that I, in my capacity as a translator, might be able to help further develop this wonderful language.
