Hello, Enrico, You have written a wonderful novel! Federico, Luma, Estela, they are all incredibly realized characters of remarkable depth and complexity. I was completely captured by the story right from the beginning, and I think that you developed the plot quite well. Primarily, this is the story of Federico, and his journey from lonely bachelor unsure of where his life is going to returning to his rightful place as father of his family was engaging, moving, and often very funny. I think I enjoyed his relationship with Marta the most, as their oil and water relationship gave you the opportunity for some really funny lines as well as some insights into relationships in general. I also want to say that your descriptions of place were also very effective. Whether you were writing about Milan or Rio, Malé or Rome, you really put me in the setting, and you did a great job of engaging multiple senses including taste. The descriptions of food and of the meals that the characters ate were effective enough to make me hungry more than once while I was editing. I have edited the complete manuscript (including glossary and footnotes) for American English spelling, punctuation, grammar, and style... Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to help you with this novel. It has been quite a while since I have been so engrossed in something that I was working on. I will carry your characters with me for quite a while. Not only that, but you have made me want to visit both Brazil and Italy as soon as I can. I look forward to seeing this book in print!
