Hi there!
(One note: I recently signed a traditional publishing contract which included all foreign language rights to Outage, so that offer is no longer available. It will be republished in May 2015 and I expect a lot of promotion efforts to be made for the book, and hopefully translations into other languages. Translating Voyage could be a great opportunity for both of us.)
My first book launched near the end of May 2014 and is called Outage, Book 1 of the Powerless Nation series. My second book launched in September 2014 and is called Voyage, Book 2 of the Powerless Nation series. Between May and November I sold over 5,000 copies of both books. I have almost 100 positive reviews on Amazon for books in the series, and I also have a growing list of subscribers (over 320) to my newsletter. I have almost 500 Likes on Facebook, and my book has been added to people's shelves on Goodreads almost 300 times. My series will have at least 3 more books, possibly more, and with such a great launch I have high hopes of selling a LOT of books. This is a great opportunity to get in early on a popular series.
I grew up in a farming community in the western United States. I love small town life, but as an adult I've lived mostly in cities and suburbs. When I was 21 I lived in the Canary Islands for a year and a half. My husband and I also took our two young children to visit family living in Belgium a few years ago. We stayed several weeks and visited France and Germany too. Hablo un poco Espanol, pero no podia traducir mis proprias obras. I know enough Spanish to chat casually with people, but not nearly enough to translate.
I admire all of you multiple-language speakers so much, and I'd love to work with you to translate my books to your languages so they can be shared around the world. I am a new author, which means choosing to work with me will be more of a risk for you, but I want you to know I'm committed to writing as a business. I released my first book to very positive reception, and I should have the second book finished this summer. My plan is to have 3 books for sale going into the end of the year.
I love stories that tell what regular people do and how they react in extreme circumstances. Post-apocalytpic fiction will be my focus for the next couple of years, and though my characters will be challenged to the most of their abilities, they will never lose hope.
One benefit of working with me (at least for some of you) is that I want my books to be accessible to young people, so the language is straight-forward, the length will be from 50,000-65,000 words, and I won't have any cursing, sex or extreme violence in any of my books.
Books in my genre have a very loyal and consistent fan-base, and although I don't expect to be the next Hunger Games, I believe that the combination of my quality storytelling, commitment to business, and ability to write quickly would make me a good partner for your translating investment. I respect your time and abilities and hope someone will take a chance with me as a new author. I'm looking for long-term translating partners who can give the young people in my novels a consistent, modern voice over the course of the series.
Please contact me if you're interested. I can't wait to hear from you!
