My name is Daniel James Miller and I am an American who made his way to the other side of the world to New Zealand by following a fun and rewarding career. After years of having a few stories in my head to tell and running out of reasons not to simply get to it and write them down, I got to it and wrote the first one down - The Dark Kin.
The Dark Kin is the first of four books in my Shifters series. It is a modern fantasy, gothic-style adventure series where a community of shapeshifters face everyday challenges (from family to friends) as well as serious preternatural ones. This series is also written in a fashion to make it suitable for readers 13+ to enjoy, yet substantive enough to be enjoyed by adult audiences as well. I had a great time writing both it and Book 2, Window in Time, with Book 3 well underway as I write this. Continuing on with a series is an even more enjoyable experience, as we meet some new types of shapeshifters as well as a calculating, dangerous enemy.
Writing was something I had always wanted to do and I am absolutely thrilled that I took the leap to start. The journey has run the spectrum from thoroughly enjoyable to brains'plody frustrating. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
