I am a sworn translator (i.e, I specialise in contracts, certificates and other public documents). However, I have had plenty of experience in literary translation, and I greatly enjoy it. Having said that, I am fully aware of the fact that the job of a literary translator consists not only in conveying the message intended in the source text as faithfully as possible, but also in making use of the appropriate criteria in order to decide which translation devices are best. A translator must have the necessary skills that will enable them to create a text which does not read as a translation, but as an authentic piece of literature that causes the same effect as the original. Cultural knowledge and a thirst for reading are vital requirements when it comes to translating in order to achieve said goal.

Author review: Dalila got the translation done in good time. She was quite easy to work with. I hope she puts in an option to translate more of my works. |
