Writers make national literature, translators make universal literature.

Carolina mutti

I am Carolina, a 21-year-old translator from Italy. I have always had a passion for languages and since I was able to do it I read all possible kinds of books. Since I started to study at the Modern School for Interpreters and Translators in Bologna, then, I was completely buried in books and translations. There I learned how to approach a translation and trying to solve the main translation problems, but I have to say that my university course was mainly based on scientific translation. For this reason I decided to take a course in literary translation (from English into Italian) organised by the publishing house "Leconte Editore". This gave me the possibility to get in touch with the translation I really love and to get a certificate with a very positive evaluation. The languages I translate from are English and German , but I look forward to doing it soon from Japanese, my new passion.

Author review:
Carolina was responsive and responsible, and while perhaps being a bit more liberal in her translation than I might have liked (but I can't be certain about that), and having a small misunderstanding of text in a spot or two, was careful with the text and respectful of it. She queried me about a couple of idioms, which made for a better translation, and completed everything on time. In all, a good experience.
