Born in New-York from French parents—Awesome, right?—I have always had both languages' and cultures' omnipresence in my life. Steak and fries for lunch and Ratatouille for dinner—classic I know but true, what can I say!
As I moved to Paris with my mom when I was a toddler, French took over and slowly became my first language. I remember being astonished knowing that other kids did not speak both languages I knew. I thought "How come? So the words coming out of my mouth do not have the same meaning for me and for them?"—ASTONISHING! To me, it was clearly a super power I wanted to keep forever.
Under the beautiful sky of Paris started my school life. I loved learning poetry and songs in elementary school, which I guess led me later on to a Major in Literature and Psychology in High School.
After graduating with honor—and best grades in both English and French Literature orals exams—I was admitted in the best Translator School of Paris but decided to spread my wings and moved to Los Angeles. I attended Santa Monica College for two years studying Media and Communication, and later transferred to U.C.L.A (University of California Los Angeles) and obtained a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts in American Literature and Culture—HOORAY!
Specialized in Creative and Entertainment translation, I quickly started my career by translating for international companies such as e2f, Welocalize and Lionbridge. In this time frame I dealt with notable multimedia clients numerous times.
As an attempt to get deeper into the entertainment industry I started working as a French Coordinator in a Multimedia Localization studio specialized in dubbing and subtitles. Great experience! I had the chance to work on translation projects for songs, movie scripts, eBooks and more. I was finally translating using my creativity and imagination. Following great performances I moved up in ranks as a project manager and reviewer.
Grateful for that experience, I still wished to get back to translating. Nothing bothers me more than watching a movie in English with French subtitles, and be the only one laughing because jokes were translated the wrong way.
So here I am, ready to make the world a better place!
