If I had to describe myself in one sentence, I would say that I have a passion for words and written communication. Having lived in different countries (Burundi, UK, USA) made me aware of what was needed to put a message across, to adapt words to fit cultural differences while remaining faithful to the author's message. I love to play with words, to work on the author's style in my own language. I write stories and poetry in French whenever I have the time, and I am an avid reader of anglophone fiction; in short, I very much live in a written world :)
I have been working as a professional translator for the past ten years, so I know what is needed to make a good translation, to go beyond the simple act of “just” translating one word after the other. I want to get the best translation possible, every single time, in all my working fields (literary but also aid & development, international organizations, HR and social sciences). I also enrolled recently on an intensive literary translation course with the “Centre européen de traduction littéraire”, to work on my literary skills and to have the pleasure of translating a wide range of literary and academic texts.
