My interest in the English language began back in the nineties when I was just a teenager trying to figure out what my favorite rock bands were singing. It was at that time that the internet had become a reality here in Brazil. However, there weren't many websites in Portuguese back then. So if you wanted to have a deeper knowledge on any subject, you should better try to learn the English language, or just keep trying to translate it using hardcover dictionaries. And that's what I've been doing ever since. I'm always looking to improve my knowledge of English. More than just a hobby, it became something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Although translations have never been my main source of income, it's something I've always loved to do. It all started with music lyrics and when I realized I was translating websites contents, articles, and even some short stories. Until then, it was just for personal purposes and I wasn't getting paid to do it.
I received my first translation offer in 2009. It was a Portuguese-English version of a chemical product catalog. It took me six months to finally finish it, but I managed to deliver quality work to the employer. It was by that time that I decided to start a graduation course on Translation/Interpretation. Unfortunately, due to some financial problems, I couldn't continue the course.
Since then, I've been working in different areas. Not because I wanted to, but because I needed stability and regular income. Meanwhile, translations were still my passion and, even though I received only a few translation job offers, I used my knowledge to translate some technical manuals when I worked as a Computer Technical Assistant.
Nowadays, I still practice my translation techniques on movies and TV series subtitles, as you can see in the link below:

Recently, in December 2019, I received my Cambridge FCE Certificate, granting me a CEFR B2 English Level. The next step will be trying for the Translation/Interpretation graduation again.
