Bilingual language/literature lover and all-round nerdy translator

With 20 years' experience in translating business texts, legal contracts and advice, science and technology academic papers, business proposals, marketing materials and general purpose texts such as news and blog articles, among others, I can happily say I have been lucky enough to cover a wide range of subject matters and writing styles. Language is important to me: conveyed intent can vary with just one word, so I ensure that my translations, whether from English into Spanish or vice versa, are both faithful and undetectable as a translation - my translated texts sound as if they had been originally written in that language. I have a keen interest in my specialist fields, a natural flair for language and a passion for my work. I dedicate the same attention to detail as an author pays to his/her work, and am satisfied when my client is. And I'm not above bending the rules a little to achieve the required impact! Only if necessary, of course...

I grew up in the UK and have lived in Chile for 20 years, giving me fully native command of both languages, and enabling me to effectively translate into either language at a professional level. I am also an affliliate of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) in the UK, #50057.

Recent projects include editing and proofing a major games theory paper from an economic, accounting and market perspective for the busines school of a top Latin American university, translating legal counsel reports for an international law firm and translating a proposal for scientific research on the eco-bio-physico-chemical effects of two toxic elements in a bid for international funding.
