Once upon a time, a man asked me if I could identify myself as an animal, which animal would I be?
I said "a raven", rapidly.
"Why?" he asked, somewhat weirded out by my choice.
I looked at him and thought of the right words, the ones he could get to understand. I chose to tell him on how I came to like this bird. "One time I read about ravens or, you know crows, and people who studied and observed them said they are very similar to humans. They visit their relatives, they remember the places where good or wrong things happened and they know which places to avoid. They observe and learn. They adapt. If there's an animal I'd like to compare myself with, it is the raven. I observe, I learn -or try my best to- and I keep in mind what is good for me, or what isn't"
The man stared at me for a few seconds and then handed me the files I had given him applying for the job he was offering. He hired me.
Sadly, it was a temporary job in a place where I did not want to stay despite having been offered a vaccant. It was just that autoservice was not my cup of tea. I like coffee better.
I did learn English by looking up the lyrics to songs I liked when I was around 13 to 14 years old, I learnt the words and I figured some of the conjugation rules, but the English class in school at that time was what gave me all the understanding I was missing. I didn´t feel it hard because I knew the words but I didn't consider myself the best. I'm always learning.
I am a raven.
