Wish Upon A Bubble by Francois Keyser

What if every bubble could hold a wish?

A dream is always a dream. We just need to dust them off and make them happen. Now, more than ever.

Wish upon a bubble

Russell's day is getting worse. Quickly.

And it seems the world is quickly heading for disaster too.

As he sits in a coffee shop pondering how his life so quickly went to hell in a handbasket a man who appears to have taken leave of his senses sits down and tells him an unbelievable story. A story which sounds as crazy as the man sitting opposite him looks.

But the man knows things about Russell from his childhood. Things he couldn't possibly know unless Russell or his parents had told him. And he knows that isn't the case.

So he eventually, decides to believe.
Believe in the nutter sitting opposite him.
Believe that he has the power to change the outcome of his current situation.
And, most of all.....
Believe he has the power to change the future of the world which does not look like a very long future anymore at all!

How you might ask?

With bubbles. One bubble to be precise.

One perfect bubble......

This short story encourages us to believe in ourselves and our dreams. Our dreams never die even if they were dreams from our childhood. A dream is always a dream. We just need to dust them off and make them happen. Now, more than ever.

Sample text:

Russell’s day just got worse. He had missed the bus. Because he missed the bus, he missed the train. He rushed to make up time, spilled his coffee, got to the office late, and was told he was no longer needed. Not because he was late, but because the company was downsizing.

Now as he sat in the coffee shop pondering his future and the world falling apart according to the news, someone stepped in front of him and blocked his view.

His eyes drifted up from the man’s waist to his face with a touch of irritation. Before Russell could say anything, the man spoke.

“Can I sit down?”

Without waiting for an answer the man pulled out the chair opposite Russell and sat. Russell opened his mouth to object but the man spoke quickly.

“I’m glad I found you Russell. We need to talk.”

Russell closed his mouth confused, frowned, and then asked as his eyes narrowed, “Do I know you?”

“You don’t know me no. But I know you.” The man smiled. He was young, thirtyish, had wild hair which looked as if he had not brushed it in a week and had just woken up.

“How…..”

“You are the man who made the greatest wish ever!”

Russell was truly perplexed. This man was insane. “I think you should leave.”

“Can’t do that Russ, my friend,” the man said. He had sparkling blue eyes and an overbite. His front teeth stood out from under his lip like a bunny rabbit and his ears protruded from the sides of his head further than anyone else Russell had ever known. The man reminded Russell of Goofy or Plug from the Archie comics.
