Getting Started

Now that we know what wall Pilates is and how it can benefit those who practice it, it is time for us to begin preparing for the 28-Day-Wall Pilates-Challenge journey, and on this journey, there are a few things that we must have. If you have exercised before, you know some basic things you need, such as a mat, waist trainer, etc. This also applies to wall Pilates. Below are some of the things you'll need before starting wall Pilates

1. Pilates Mat

Of course, we just had to start with the mat because it is one the most straightforward Pilates kits to purchase. It won't bore a hole in your pocket and can be easily found in most fitness stores. Wall Pilates mats are designed to be thicker than the mat used in Yoga. Why are wall Pilates mats thicker? Well, we are glad you asked. The answer is relatively straightforward; wall Pilates mats are designed to be wider so that your joints, hands, and spine are protected as you work out. It ensures that your joints are cushioned throughout the exercises. This also helps you to carry out the exercises for a long time because your joints won't get fatigued during the workout.

You can also use the exercise mat you use for other exercises as a Pilates exercise mat. However, check your mat's thickness before using it for wall Pilates. Many exercises that are done during wall Pilates will require that you press your hand or some part of your body down on the mat. This is why you must have a thick mat, so your hands and knees don't feel sore during the wall Pilates. The good news about this wall Pilates mat is that it can be used for almost all exercises.
