Dewie called the other Ashland Rocks, Andre Miller and Lorenzo Fair, shouting into their answering machines until he woke somebody at their cribs. Like Turk, they didn't believe what he said about his new destiny but were going along with him to find Latasha and Shontell for a split of Janie's money. Dewie didn't tell them about the sacrifice because they wouldn't want to help him kill two little girls. They all had babies themselves -- nobody in the Rocks had trouble attracting women except Dewie.
They wouldn't back out when they learned what Dewie had done to Janie. Turk and Lorenzo once raped a fifty-year-old woman in a church, then stole all the money from the donation plates. Janie was an adult and white, and so ought to know better than to hang around dangerous niggers even if she was slow. Besides, nobody liked her anyway. It'd be different if they did, but they didn't.
They for sure wouldn't split once the sacrifices were completed. They wouldn't dare.
Dewie thought about calling Marko, giving him a fair chance to join up, then decided not to. Marko could have joined the Crips, but he wouldn't take second place. He would rather be undisputed general of the Ashland Rocks than a lieutenant in the Crip army. He just would not take orders. He was boss or he was out.
Dewie organizing the Rocks himself? Marko wouldn't like that. He might command the others not to help Dewie. He might try to stop Dewie because finding the girls hadn't been his idea.
