Shay finds herself alone in the strange world her father created. The king is dead. Her father is dead. Josh is dead.
As far as Prince Fiere is concerned, their blood is on her hands. He is angry, bitter and his heart is torn in two. Should he kill Shay or should he trust her? She has betrayed him through her lack of transparency and honesty. Things could have been different if she had told him the truth.
When he discovers that Shay's mother is responsible for the death of his father, his heart struggles even harder to trust her.
But Shay discovers that what she believed was the truth about her mother is not the truth. The truth has the power to absolve her from the blame she carries but she must win Fiere's trust back first and then save this world and the universe by stopping Algwad from obtaining a jewel that has been thousands of years in the making.
The jewel will grant the holder immense power to do good or evil. The power to save or destroy the universe.
Will she succeed or will all she has worked to achieve be for nothing?

Gradually the panic in the hall passed and the guests calmed down. Maica cried over the body of Mayle.
Slowly the guests' anger at her act of retaining them in the hall receded and was replaced by their compassion. They approached Maica and helped her up and into a chair.
King Dulman from the kingdom of Fordor assumed control briefly and ordered the guards to remove Mayle’s body to his chambers. Meerde was present and confirmed preliminarily that Mayle’s death was due to poison.
The guests gradually calmed down and left for their chambers.
Maica remained seated at the table of honor, or what was left of it until the last of the guests had departed the hall to their chambers. Only then did Maica retire to her chambers.
Maica sent messengers asking guests to stay and attend the funeral of King Mayle. Maica spent her time in mourning but also carefully gauging which of the visitors might be counted as allies and which not.
Some guests offered their condolences and informed Maica that they would leave the next day. With their uncertainty of who was responsible for the king’s murder, they would not risk their lives by remaining longer than they had to. Maica did not delay them further for the sake of appearances. She knew the truth and spread the word that the king had been murdered by Algwad.
Maica had not been in her chambers long when a shout went up from the castle turrets. Soon after there was a knock at the door to her chambers and the second in charge of the army, Galwin entered.
Galwin was in his forties and had assumed command as soon as he had been instructed to do so by Maica. He had been informed that Algwad and Elnen were to be arrested and killed on sight if necessary.
