
The sound of the Star-Spangled Banner U.S.A’s national anthem rung in the background as Dexter Simpson, a sixteen-year-old school dropout hang around the corner of the streets of New York City. It was the year 2008, to be exact. Times Square, he mostly hangs out by himself.
Dexter’s life had many ups and downs, and for that, he sometimes hangs out with the thugs on the streets of New York. He made the most of his homeless life.
“Hey, old Momma, spare some change?” said Dexter to an old lady about 65 to 70 years of age.
The old lady replied, “Back up, son! Just back the hell up!” in a cranky voice as she held up her walking stick as if to hit him if he approached any further.
Dexter backed down, laughed it off and said in his mind, ‘That old lady is crazy as hell!’
Dexter then went away to do some skating on the road and at the skating park. It was about midday, and he didn’t remember that he had to work. Furthermore, it was a Monday. He often worked along the corner of Fourth Street with a man named Elijah Jones, who sold everything from food, clothes to jewelry and household products. The store was a mini-mart
