When a young nurse accepts a job at a former military hospital, she unearths a family secret and finds the spectral occupants a little too familiar.
A Short Ghost Story
Genre: FICTION / Ghost“Sister Ramsey says it was a hospital in the war. But there was some secret stuff going on, you know like Bletchley or something. There was a tragedy here, but that was probably par for the course in military hospitals.” Georgina gazed at the bunker door, finding she couldn’t look away.
“Yes, I heard that. The crater was from a German bomb which fell. That’s why it’s called the Crater Hospital now – to honour the dead. It was Blossom Hill in the forties or something like that.” Arabella stamped out the remains of her cigarette. “Come on we better go. Bedpans don’t wash themselves, unfortunately.”
“Blossom Hill? Are you sure? Could it be Blossom Rise?” Georgina had stopped in her tracks.
“Maybe, why what does it matter what the old place was called seventy years ago?”
Georgina shook her head. “I suppose it doesn’t.” Without another word she moved on, thoughtful.
