The priest and me

He tries to resist him, but he's irresistible. Every where Father Gregory goes he sees him. He's made a promise to his congregation, a promise to the Lord, a promise to himself that he'll keep his vow of celibacy. But when Father Gregory first lays eyes on Owen, he cannot keep his mind off of him.

How can he avoid him when his heart tell him otherwise? How can he resist him when Owen has made it clear that he wants the priest mind, body and soul? How can he stop falling in love with him when destiny keeps bringing them together?

“Forgive me father, for I have sinned,” the voice said, echoing in the confession chamber.

“How many days since your last confession?” Father Gregory asked in his husky, sexy voice. He clutched the rosary beads in his hand for dear life. Lately, they’d been his only safeguard from temptation. It was temptation that toyed with his emotions and pulled in him in directions he knew he couldn’t go, not if he wanted to stay father of the Portland St. Mary’s Cathedral.

“I don’t even know, Father,” the young man said. “I can’t remember. Maybe seven, eight years. Maybe even 10, come to think of it.”

The priest could see the fullness of the man’s pink lips through the confessional screen. And the harder he looked, the more he realized he’d seen him before during one of his sermons.

It was him. He was the one.

He wanted to run, to leave the confessional booth immediately, and if he’d had it his way, he would have. Suddenly, he found the stuffy room even more claustrophobic. He wanted to loosen his collar as his hand gripped the sides of the room.

“Dear Lord,” he whispered to himself. “Why do you allow this temptation.”
