Technical book on clock repair. I have three books that are based on the same material so doing all three would be easy to do the second and third book.
Genre: CRAFTS & HOBBIES / GeneralI have a lot of sales on Amazon and eBay in the USA, England, Canada and Australia [ie English presking] and I know clock repair is very popular in Germany so a very promising market.
Cuckoo Clock History
Over 300 years ago, the farmers of Germany had no means of generating an income during the long cold winters. They decided to make clocks to survive the season. They were very simple wood clocks with wooden gears, but they were very popular.
More and more farmers started to make clocks, so in order to compete, they started making more attractive and interesting clocks. They started painting black forest scenes and decorations, creating “shield clocks”.
Next was added a cuckoo bird that came out of a door at the top of the face. The birth of the cuckoo clock.
In about 1850, wood carvings were added, the next generation was born. A wood case became in demand and animations added. The modern cuckoo clock was created.
Today, that are many cuckoo clockmakers, but 90% for the clocks are made by Regula and Hubert Herr.
Introduction
The repair and servicing of cuckoo clocks are much like repairing any weight or spring-driven mechanical pendulum clock. For information about general clock repair, please see the comprehensive Section Two of this book. Section One deals specifically with the procedure to service cuckoo clocks.
Taking cuckoo clocks apart is quite simple. The challenge is to put them back together again, so it will run correctly. This book will teach you the simple process that will allow you to re-assemble the clock, so it runs, correctly.
