I am the murderer. I came to the Imam’s wake to spy on his friends and supporters. He deserved what had happened to him. When I killed him a heavy burden was removed from my shoulders. I am satisfied because I am sure that by killing him I have freed the Muslims from real evil.
The anger with which his followers received the news surprised me. I have to admit that I did not expect such a violent reaction because I took it for granted they must thank Allah for having taken him away. I realized to what extent they are infected by his poisonous ideas and that nothing can make them change their minds but tangible proofs. If I had found the manuscript, I would have been able to confront them and convince them, otherwise to face them without it should lead me to inevitable death.
I was resting at home when the news of his murder came out on television. My wife had served the meal, when, breaking news popped up on the screen. It announced the murder of the imam and reporting live near his home where a huge crowd of angry fans shouted and vowed revenge on those who committed the crime.
