A heart warming, feel-good romance about love, life and family.

Summer in san sebastian

Abigail’s world has disintegrated, leaving her jobless, homeless, and loveless in a remarkably brief space of time.

Where else can she lick her wounds but in Spain with her dippy Aunt May? She pulls on her big girl pants, swears off men, and leaps on the opportunity she’s offered in San Sebastian. Determined to get her life back on track and find her place in the world, it finally all seems to be coming together.

Until she meets Gabe. Gorgeous, grumpy, incredibly annoying, and obviously hiding a secret, she has to battle against the insane attraction she has for him. He’s only there for a week, after all.

When his secret spills out on National TV, can she overcome her past hurts and learn to trust again, risking her new found job and family in the process?

Sample text:

Abigail leaned back in the hard blue and yellow seat, closing her eyes to the surrounding chaos, and tried not to think of the life she was leaving behind. Six months ago, she had a job she loved, a fiancé she thought she loved, and a rather nice flat in Clapham Junction. Now she was on a plane, going to see Mad Aunt May in Spain because it felt like the only option left available to her. She opened her eyes briefly to watch the safety video, as the plane taxied towards take-off, then firmly closed them again, to make it all go away.

She only opened them when the flight attendant asked if she wanted a drink. The stale smell of scalded coffee that permeated the cabin made her decision easy. ‘A large gin and tonic please,’ she said emphatically, conscious that it was 11 am but not giving a damn. Ignoring his expression of disapproval, she took the plastic cup from him with her biggest smile, looked at his nametag and said acerbically, ‘thank you so much, Craig. It’s a pleasure to be served by you today.’

Taking a long sip from the cup, Abigail let out a sigh of relief. A quick pit stop in Madrid, then another short hop, and she’d be in San Sebastian. She had always wanted to go. Her aunt’s descriptions of the place sounded amazing, but she had never quite got around to it, a fact that she felt guilty about. Especially as May was welcoming her now, without hesitation and with open arms, despite her vagabond status.

‘Just hop on a plane, darling,’ had been her aunt's immediate response to her call. ‘Get yourself over here for some sun and Sangria. We can sort out everything else later.’ May continued, even though Abigail hesitated, unsure if this was the right thing to do. ‘Bite the biscuit sweetie, no point crying over spilt gin!’
