The titled Lady is a bitch. She can also be kind, but she knows what she wants and doesn't care what anyone thinks. It's no surprise when she gets murdered, but it seems like everyone had a good reason to kill her. One of her staff even confesses to killing her.
This mystery, set in a huge English mansion in the 1990's, has a whole cast of characters from butlers to the aristocracy. How they all interact, and what it's like to work in a modern day mansion.
Finding who killed the Lady is no easy task, but it's a lot of fun trying to guess who did it.

*Possible Spoilers Ahead*
Finally, a story about the murder of one of those catty, conniving, evil, beautiful but brittle rich Ton witches. She is the manipulative type who demands the admiration of every man in a room and will do whatever she has to do to get it. She is known for creating misery for the protagonist and others including innocent animals who are just doing their jobs. No one including her husband and children like her. Her loyal minions, who fear her self imposed greatness, are always timid and plain and bow and scrape to her every whim. Whether a slight is real or imagined Lady Charlotte Baldwin will avenge it quickly, ruthlessly and quite shamelessly. Her lack of integrity allows her to lie without compunction. So it was no big shock when she was coldly and callously murdered for her sins. Almost everyone at the house that day had plenty of motive and opportunity. This was a delightful read. I couldn't put it down. There was so much going on with the main as well as with the secondary characters. The story does contain an interesting curve ball. Phillip, the protagonist, gets himself engaged to a whiny, needy, insecure mother of four who is the exact opposite of his nemesis Lady Baldwin. Very nicely done.

4.0 out of 5 starsA wonderful old fashioned murder mystery
BySandy Appleyardon September 26, 2012
Format: Paperback
This book was addicting from the first page. It was easy to follow, it kept the energy flowing and was very enjoyable. Peter gives a wonderful sketch of all the characters. He's especially good at this as there were many characters, which can sometimes be confusing, but he nailed it.
The behind the scenes action was most interesting. I loved the portrayal of Lady B; villain yet still loved by some. The story is told in such a manner that once the trigger is pulled, everyone is a suspect. There is a nice balance of good and bad characters as well, and the reader gets to know each personally.
Very well told and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good old fashioned murder mystery.

Well written storyline, wonderfully created characters, and some twists and turns make this a fun read! This book contains something for everyone. There's love, sex, romance, adventure, and especially a murder mystery! Follow along as detectives try to figure out who killed Lady Baldwin...was it her spin-off-be ex-husband, a spurned lover, or a disgruntled staff member? With a list of suspects, all who had ample motive and opportunity to commit the murder, and only circumstantial evidence the detectives and coroner have their work cut out for them for sure. This is definitely worth reading!!
#4197 in Mystery.
I continually sell this book, just not on the scale that I should. That is down to my own shortcomings on social media. The books I buy myself, I quickly sell, but they don't count on amazon rankings and sales. Everyone who buys this book loves it. I just wish they would post the reviews they give me.
CHAPTER ONE
Lady Baldwin was lying face down on the bed, a white sheet barely concealing her modesty but not her figure. Despite being in her middle forties, she was still sought after by enough men to keep her happy. She still had her looks, her small waist, her large breasts helped by some minor operations and her long slim legs. Although her shoulder length blonde hair was extremely disheveled and her lipstick smudged, she didn’t particularly care at this moment. She’d just had sex and wanted some more. She raised herself up onto her right elbow and rearranged the sheet around her to the best effect, highlighting the length of her legs and the roundness of her bottom. Today, she knew she was irresistible..
Her blue eyes quickly took in the surroundings; a tiny bedroom with limited furniture, the biggest of which was this queen size bed which she herself had bought, just a couple of nightstands on either side in natural pine, a dressing table and chair in the same pine, and a small wardrobe. The walls were plain white and curtains stood out in a dreadful chocolate. They were closed at present, thankfully keeping much of the daylight out. After all, it was still only 3pm. Her clothes were scattered all about the beige fitted carpet and she smiled as she recalled how hurriedly they’d been discarded.
Lady Baldwin heard him flush the toilet and turn the faucet on to wash his hands from the bathroom next door; then the faint sound of his bare feet padding away toward the kitchen. She knew he loved her, worshipped her really, but she didn’t love him back. He was just a lover.
In the tiny kitchen he busied himself getting a couple of glasses and a bottle of champagne out of the fridge. Champagne was her usual beverage, she’d even sent a crate to this apartment purely for her frequent visits, along with other personal supplies.
