I'd like to share with you a bit about my experiences of operating a home-cleaning business. I successfully owned and operated an one-person house cleaning service for three years. Ultimately, I had to close my business after that time as I pushed my body beyond its physical limits and developed severe bursitis in my shoulder and I simply couldn't do the work anymore. I could have made other decisions, looking back, but rather, I simply closed my doors, but based on what was happening in my personal life that seemed like the best decision for me at the time.
Why did I start a home cleaning business? I was in a troubled marriage with two young children in elementary school. My husband had just left us, so I was facing single parenthood for the first time. I needed to earn a good income so I wasn't working countless hours away from my children. I needed flexibility in my schedule to accommodate my children's needs. I found that owning my own residential cleaning business fit those criteria best. Because it was also a business, it offered me many tax breaks as well. In that season of my life, it was a great fit for my family and did provide the time, flexibility, and income we needed. Welcome to my journey.
