A regression such as this will cause you to fail in understanding something you may need to understand. If your eyes happen to jump over several words or lines further back, it is a sign that you need to slow down.
Understand eye movement: when you are reading, your eyes are going to make jerky movements as they read certain words and skip over other words. The only time you are really going to read what you are trying to read is when your eyes stop moving.
You need to learn how to make fewer movements per line and this will help you to read a lot faster. However, be careful because some research has shown that there are limits to how much English readers are able to see at once.
You will notice about nine to fifteen letters spaced to the right, but you will not read them clearly.
You will be able to read about eight letters to the right of where your eyes are positioned but only four to the left. This roughly means you are reading about two or three words at a time.
Also, normal readers are not going to process words that are on other lines. You need to be able to train yourself to skip lines and still be able to understand them. This can prove to be difficult, but can be done.
