The first thing that we are going to look at is improving our peripheral vision. The peripheral vision is the ability to be able to look at objects that are to the sides of what we are directly looking at. For the most part, you are going to spend a lot of time focusing on what is going on right in front of you, but for speed reading to work, you need to be able to focus on more than one word at a time, and peripheral vision can help make this happen.
Traditionally, our reading style is going to have us focus on just one or two words at a time. This makes it harder to read fast because we have to readjust our focus all of the time. But if you can practice seeing things out of your peripheral vision, you will be able to see more words at one time, and you will be able to comprehend what is going on while being able to read through the information quickly.
