Sides in a War by Seth Giolle

This is Book 4 in my Future Kings series that follows three magical youth on their trek to freedom in a world gone mad.

Sides in a war

Angelina, Gordon, and Simon grew up in a town gone mad, in a world bent on Stalking and killing all wizards, young and old.
Born magical, the fourteen, ten, and seventeen year olds escaped Iroquois Falls with the help of a strong wizard, StarBen and started their journey north to a wizard school where they can train and live free, magical lives.
They’ve survived the dangers of the Kasheteh, a great dark eye that’s now a burgeoning Dark Domain. They fought their way north reuniting with StarBen to reach the Canchock, a portal bringing them leagues closer to their ultimate goal.
They’re closer now than ever though they’re all wounded, winded, or exhausted in one way or another. No part of their journey’s been simple yet.
Will this last short jog around a few arctic peaks be different or yet another brush with certain doom?

“You’re a shut-in,” Gordon was muttering.

The fire sputtered between them. Even shielded from the wind inside the small cave they’d found, their hair and fire was still at the mercy of its chilling reach.

“I guess that explains things,” the ten year old mumbled on. His coat like Angelina’s was thin, but it had its star-designed hood, and the touque and gloves were on for added warmth. “You know, the way you don’t always explain yourself and all that. Just aren’t used to people.”

StarBen lifted his gaze showing a tired frown.

Angelina recognized the old wizard’s exhaustion. They were all still quite tired from their battle escaping the Canchock alive. Her arms and legs still felt like lead, and she was sleeping full nights. StarBen wasn’t. He was even letting them sleep in in the mornings before rousing them to resume climbing down from the peak they’d exited onto.

If she was this tired, he had to be spent.

That had been four days ago.
