Mistakes and setbacks are a natural part of life. Everybody experiences them at some point in their life. However, your failures and mistakes do not really matter. What matters is the way you deal with them. If you can handle them in a positive manner, you can quickly overcome them and get yourself back on the right track. First of all, you have to accept the way you feel. Failures can hurt your emotions. So, you have to feel the pain. Acknowledge it. Embrace it. Afterwards, you can move on. If you refuse to acknowledge your feelings, you will only prolong your healing process. You will take a longer time to let go and move on. Worse, your feelings of pain can translate to anger and pessimism. You can be moody and lash out on other people.
Remind yourself that you are not a failure. You may have failed to reach your goals, but that does not mean that you cannot try again. Instead of wallowing because of your setback, you should consider it an opportunity for growth and improvement.
