Self-discipline: how to develop an invincible mind. increase your confidence and your goals

(54b)

Self-discipline is a necessary factor in achieving any goal you have set. It is important because self-discipline gives you that drive and motivation you need when times get tough and you want to quit. Often when we are faced with challenges; the first thought to creep in or heads is to give up.

Mental Toughness is often thought of as some superhuman ability, reserved only for the military personnel and top level athletes. Although this is a myth. True mental strength is an everyday trait for the everyday individual, you just need to know how to cultivate it properly. This comes from learning the right psychological techniques. But more importantly, from letting go & surrendering to situations you can’t control.

The main purpose of this book is to help you boost your self esteem so that you will be able to realize that you are a wonderful woman of the world who can live her life to the fullest. Keep in mind that nourishing your self esteem will take time, and this will require a promise from you to be open and to commit to making changes in your life.

Sample text:

Similar to the principle of keystone habits, the Pareto principle is all about focusing your self-discipline and willpower reserves on doing things that yield the most results relevant to your success.  You may be more familiar with its other name, which is the 80/20 principle, i.e., focusing most of your efforts on 20% of your resources (time, finances, effort) that yield 80% of your desired results instead of focusing on 80% of your resources that produce only 20% of your desired results.

A very practical personal example of this for me is prioritizing my work during weekdays over everything else, except for personal and family emergencies of course.  My work demands a lot of mental focus, which can be easily disturbed by many trivial concerns such as meeting up with a friend for dinner on a weeknight when I have work the following morning.  I apportion my willpower reserves and self-discipline to getting my work done on weekdays because it accounts for the bulk of my desired results, which include having food on the table for me and my family, having a roof over our heads, and paying for important utilities like electricity, heating, water, Internet, etc.  Now that I've established a work routine on weekdays, focusing on my work no longer requires self-discipline because it has already become automatic and natural for me, i.e., a habit.  And I can re-allocate my discipline to other areas of my life that I need to make a habit out of such as regularly working out at the gym and mindfulness meditation.  If I didn't focus on getting my work down to pat first, I wouldn't be able to have my and my family's needs met, which includes being able to afford gym membership, among others.
