Book quote: “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”- Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
This chapter book is a part of a series, but it easily functions as a stand-alone book.
It is suitable for kids ages 6-10 (reading level 3, 1st through 4th grade).
Ideal for early readers or to be read aloud by a parent as a bedtime story.
About the US/UK editions: Each of the books in this series has two editions: US & UK. This is due to the fact that the beautiful game is referred to as SOCCER in the US, and FOOTBALL in the UK.
This book is the 2nd book from a series of 3 books named "Sean Wants To Be Messi."
I've sold 10000 copies books from the series since it's publication.
The books ranks for searches about "soccer books" and "lionel messi books."
An excited crowd huddles around the barrier on both sides of the entrance road to the Camp Nou stadium. Squeezed in the front, mobile phone camera ready in hand, Mummy and Sean are intently observing every passing car. Fancy cars drive by, but so far, there have been no famous football players behind any of the dark windows. Sean runs a hand through his hair, checking that his hairdo is still in place. Stripes are painted on his and Mummy’s cheeks in red, yellow, and blue - the Barcelona FC colours. Sean has his Barca scarf and clothes on. A large roll of paper sticks out of Mummy’s rucksack.
“When is Messi coming?” asks Sean.
“Two hours till the game...I think it shouldn’t be long now,” Mummy answers.
Another car enters the driveway. A security guard stops it and asks the driver for papers.
“When is Messi coming?” Mummy yells to him as the car pulls away.
“Messi is already inside,” the guard smiles.
There is a collective sigh of disappointment all around, and the crowd disperses in the direction of the stadium.
Forty-five minutes before the game, the gates open. The excited crowd moves to the stadium entrance doors. Fans from all over the world chat in Spanish, French, Italian, Arabic, English, German, Turkish, Japanese, and other languages. Many wear clothes with the Barcelona colours and symbols. Some have their faces painted, too. Sean holds Mummy’s hand tightly.
