Neil stood up, dazed and a high-pitched ringing filled his. Distantly, he heard muttering voices that became increasingly hostile. He struggled to hear what was being said above the ringing in his ears. That’s when a shadow fell over him, a big shadow.
He slowly craned his neck to glimpse what was behind him. Standing before him was what could only be described as a long, hairy and fanged caterpillar. The creature stood at least six feet tall and ran over ten feet long. It was grey, like the rocks that made up the Cylosian hills. Its fangs were long and sharp and they dripped with viscous spittle. A warm jet of musty air from the creature enveloped Neil, causing him to retch and nearly vomit.
“You will halt at once,” a deep voice commanded.
Neil couldn’t place the source of the voice until he saw something reflect the sun into his eyes. He looked on top of the caterpillar and sitting in a leather saddle on the creature’s back was a stout, rocky Cylosian figure holding a forked spear. Blue lines of electricity glowed and crackled between the tines. The being was dressed in black and grey camouflage and there was a large red circle on its chest.
