Other Presuppositions of Neuro-Linguistic Programming
The response that communication elicits is its meaning. The content and manner of the reply you get from whoever you are communicating with is what your whole communication meant. Even if you attempt to deliver a specific message, validation of understanding is only possible when the receiver has properly responded.
For instance, if you are trying to say a joke and the person you are talking to did not get it or did not laugh, then perhaps the manner or thought of your telling the joke was not conducive to your expected communication.
Two communication levels exist: unconscious and conscious.
Verbal communication is not the only form of communication that humans use. You may not realize it, but you actually use plenty of eye and hand movements, posturing, facial expressions, body language, and non-verbal cues along with your words. You can even add to the mood and tone to relay your message more effectively.
