People as a factor involves who communicates, or are at least trying to communicate. In the oversimplified sense, communication is a matter of speaking and listening between at least 2 parties. There is the speaker, also called the sender. The other party is the receiver or the listener. There is a disparity on influence, power, or status. One is always more dominant than the other. In each role, the state of mind shapes how the person interacts, processes and influences communication. In a communication process, the parties do not always have to stay within the confines of being entirely the speaker or be the listener throughout.
