He was proud of his own looks, loved the fact he was beautiful, and disdained those who loved him.
Nemesis, the goddess who enacted retribution against those who succumb to arrogance before gods, noticed his behavior. She also realized that Narcissus was extremely attracted to a pool because he liked to stare at his own reflection. He fell in love with his reflection, not realizing it’s just an image. One day, Narcissus was unable to leave the beauty of the reflection, and he lost his will to live. He stared at his face reflecting in the pool until he died. Based on this Greek myth, narcissism is used to describe a person’s fixation with oneself, one’s physical appearance, their position in society, and other aspects of life.
