Understanding what narcissism and sociopathy are, in terms of pathology, is the first lesson in this book. Unlike most psychological disorders (with the exception of psychopathy, which is barely distinguishable from sociopathy), there is no known way to treat these disorders, for the most part. While I’ll describe some therapeutic approaches that have had limited success with narcissists, both pathologies resist even the suggestion that something’s wrong.
