Common personality types of a narcissist are they are charismatic and appear to have everything going for them; they can appear to be victims of their circumstance and indirectly receive pity for their situation. They may be smooth talkers and quick-witted. Narcissistic abusers may have grown up in a narcissistic family and have grown up to repeat the disorder based on their own insecurities and underdevelopment.
A narcissist lives under their own false self. They portray themselves to the world in one light, and they are completely different in their true narcissistic self. A narcissist lacks empathy and needs constant admiration and inordinate amount attention of others.
In the tool belt of the narcissist and by design to destroy the victim, the narcissist uses the following control tactics to manipulate and deceive:
Gaslighting. This is when the abuser creates a scenario where the victim questions their reality and what has happened. After time and repetition, the victim becomes confused and may feel they are going insane.
Projection. The narcissist blames you for their bad behavior. They project and accuse you of behavior, they are, in fact, doing.
Circular conversations. Conversations with a narcissist will include changing the subject, false accusatory statements to shift the blame and focus of the conversations, and to side rail and cause confusion. Nothing gets resolved.
