When you become a minimalist it doesn’t mean you will never own nice things. That’s not the idea. It means you will free yourself from the things that you don’t want or need. To start you off, go into one of your rooms and find a surface that has a lot of things placed on it. Look at the items and remove 60% of them. Do it! Action creates results, and in order for you to get results, start with the first step, right now.
This is going to be tough to do at first and you may even believe it is wrong. You might feel you are getting rid of things that mean a lot to you, and that the surface will look sparse once they are removed. Do it anyway.
After you have removed the items, take a look at the surface again. It doesn’t look sparse does it? In fact, it looks a whole lot better. You have provided space for the remaining items to breathe and stand out more.
