We have some weird conceptions about money. If we don’t have money, we usually believe that money can bring happiness. However, if we have money, we usually have the tendency to want more.
It is really strange, because we know, at least rationally, that money can’t buy happiness. However, sadly, we have been living in societies bombarded with the money culture that we have started acting based on false beliefs about money. We want cars, mansions, private jets. Living a life in luxury means a happy life for some people. Of course, this concept is not true. However, the opposite of luxury–poverty–will not also bring happiness. Poverty brings lifetime deprivation, and it’s rarely blissful.
Money is not evil, and it’s not evil to buy stuff you want, or to work 40 hours per day to earn money. We need to buy things, and we all need to pay bills to live a comfortable life. However, when we prioritize money and material things first, we tend to forget our real priorities and the purpose of why we live.
Through minimalism, you can get rid of the extra stuff, which clears the clutter from our lives. This can help us save money and create more rooms for the most essential things in life: relationships, health, personal development, and giving back to the community.
