Have you ever asked yourself how to break this crazy cycle of negativity and busy-ness that runs our lives? Work, traffic, arguments, more work, family, stress, try to sleep, and then do it all over again. We end up bearing the stress and forgetting to care of ourselves, leading to more and more stress
Being a parent is difficult, stressful and messy: getting kids to bed at night and off to school in the morning, breaking up sibling fights, struggling to balance work and family, constantly cleaning up stuff left behind by family members and pets. And then there are those messy feelings: unappreciated, misunderstood, guilty and inadequate, sure that other parents must be doing it better.
Only when he finds out, by yourself, that there is, nothing that he does that is free of defilement and suffering and that there is a way out of it all, that he may become sufficiently well-motivated to gain that freedom, and meditation is the way to neutralize the source of all the trouble, the misconception of self and other.

The practice of mindfulness originated in Buddhism. According to their philosophy, stress is caused by the emotions gripping a person’s heart upon the arousal events. These emotions are triggered by past memories or by judgment.
For example, the sight of a dirty homeless man can set a flurry of panic and worry. If the person really did have a bad experience with one, he or she has reason to feel that way. Because of mass media and stereotyping, however, even if there are no bad memories to associate the image, people automatically assume the homeless man should be dreaded, even if he is actually as harmless as a butterfly.
Regular people may find the above example a bit demeaning. It’s the truth; people are (at relative degrees) judgmental. But it is also normal. Remembering or judging whether a thing, person or event is good or bad is every sane person’s innate reflex. Humans, after all, are fragile. Man is designed to feel pain, fall ill, grow old and, of course, die. So far, being judgmental can and has saved numerous people from physical, emotional and mental harm.
Every sword meant to protect, however, also has the capacity to hurt its wielder. In the case of being judgmental, it can send anyone to a never-ending chain of worry, anxiety and stress. If left untamed, these three can quickly rob anyone of happiness, leaving nothing but suffering.
