The place is just as important as the time. You can choose any location, whether it is indoors or outdoors. You can choose to meditate alone or with other people. Feel free to select a venue that you feel safe, secure and comfortable to be in. Remember that meditating indoors and outdoors both have their own pros and cons.
If you choose to meditate indoors, you can benefit from the added safety and security. This is especially true if you are meditating alone. You can rest assured that nobody or nothing will disturb, or worse harm you as you meditate. You can also be protected against extreme heat or cold if the weather outside is harsh.
However, you may not reap the full benefits of mindfulness meditation since you are not one with nature. You can still make your ambiance welcoming, though. For example, you can light scented candles or incenses and play white background noise. You can also leave your windows open to let in fresh air.
If you choose to meditate outdoors, you can be one with nature. You can meditate in the woods or on top of a hill. Feeling the warmth of the sun and the cool breeze as well as hearing the chirping of the birds and the rustling of the leaves can make your meditation experience much more rewarding.
Then again, staying outdoors is not 100% safe. You may be disturbed by another person, a wild animal, or the weather. Your mind may also not be completely at peace since you may worry that it will rain or snow. If it is too hot, sitting on the ground may not be comfortable too.
