How can he resist this hot piece of man action, even if he is his very own brother-in-law?
It was early on a Saturday afternoon and I was sitting behind the protective fence on the few wooden rows that made up the grand stand of Cooper Mountain Elementary School. Yet again, I found myself watching my son Cody not play baseball.
It was early May, towards the end of the year, and so far my son had only participated in friendly matches, but never any of the real games. Which was a shame, really, and the reason I was there. It was a good day to be outdoors in Hola, Oregon; the sky was a clear azure blue and not a cloud was in sight. Not that the weather had any effect on my mood. If anything, the swelteringly hot sun usually only cut my temper even shorter.
“Daddy, why aren’t I good enough to play any real games?” my son had asked me the other night and I couldn’t stand to see his heart broken.
So, after the game was over, I went to have a little chat with the coach. It started out cordial. I only wanted to explain to him that I was paying a lot of money for my son to just be on the bench half the time but he clearly wasn’t in the mood for listening.
“Tell it to your grandmother,” he said, dismissing me as he gathered all the bats and balls.
Today was not the day and I had to respond. “What the fuck did you say?” I answered before I could stop myself.
That was when he and I went off on each other. He was just trying to piss me off; that I could see for sure as he got into my face, his sweaty, handsome face mostly hidden by a baseball cap. I’d seen him from afar but had never really had a conversation with him. He was just inches from me as he screamed and yelled back.
