Infidelity is no more a taboo, but a topic being discussed casually over coffee tables. It is now a normal occurrence in the lives of many people, and not restricted to the elite circles alone. Swapna has selected this subject for her debut collection of short stories. It is an issue that is still a hush-hush matter and yet when you come across a case happening around yourself, you are no longer taken by surprise or a bit of shock. The stories reflect what is taking place in society – in your neighbourhood, in offices, with your relatives, friends and colleagues, and maybe in your own life.
I truly believe that miracles happen every single day and I hope this book will be the miracle to find answers or clues to striking similarities at least, in a few people’s lives whose experiences might remotely mirror what I have penned down. I am hopeful that each story will grip you until the end, imprinting an image you are likely to carry for a long time, just like every narrator who lived the moment while describing his or her story did.

I was attractive but he was way out of my league and I wasn't looking forward to an office romance. The more I withdrew from him; my non-responsive attitude was creating more problems in ways unknown to me. Very soon, my colleagues began to notice that our good-looking manager had eyes for only me. Well, I too found him pleasing to my senses and I was comfortable appreciating and acknowledging it from a distance.
I had no interest or intention for anything more to happen, and if that was not obvious to some of my close friends, then all I can say is that they wasted no time in dropping a bombshell. “The boss was married!!” As if that would pose to be a deterrent to change my mind in case I found him captivating. As if I cared. In fact, I was content hearing it, resigning to the idea that things might end in hiccups and certainly not a blossoming relationship. Other women around me pointed out that the boss was not losing out a single opportunity to get my attention. I think he found it challenging, but for me, it was being myself.
