The Basics Of Keto Diet

When you are on ketogenic diet, your body enters a metabolic state called ketosis. While in ketosis, your body is using ketone bodies for energy instead of glucose. Ketone bodies are much more stable and study source of energy than glucose because it is derived from fat while glucose is derived from carbohydrates.

It takes about 3 days to a week for you to enter into ketosis. And once in ketosis your body will be using fat for energy instead of carbohydrates.

How to test yourself for ketosis

As you begun the keto diet, you can test yourself to see whether you have entered ketosis. Use a ketone test strip and it will tell you the level of ketone bodies in your urine. Once the contraction is high, it means you have entered into ketosis.
