Jobs for angels: veterans’ nightmare realities

A FEW TEASERS:

Trevor went into survival mode. There was no way he was going down for her murder
Abuse had to be proven, and was normally only done so by showing malnourishment or signs of physical abuse.
We are seeing more women Veterans with PTSD, especially those who were sexually assaulted when they were in the service.
“I know it was you! You killed Ashley! You stabbed her to death! You’re a monster!”
He couldn’t help laughing until the darkness formed around the edges of his blurry vision. Then the blackness closed in.
Ever since Trevor murdered Ashley, she found it difficult to be as compassionate toward the Vets as she used to be.
It was the only way to protect his children from what he had experienced--abuse which was totally unacceptable.
“Ashley. She’s dead. Someone killed her.”
We don’t know what it’s like to desperately cling to reality during combat, what it’s like to kill or be killed.
At this point I don’t even know if you might be a psycho stalker or maybe even a serial killer.
“You killed Ashley! Admit it! Go on! Just tell the truth!  You stabbed her to death!  You’re a monster!”
“You did this! You killed her!”

Young girls help war vets by being a friend, have coffee, and play cards with them, through an organization called AVSA.  Ashley, an attractive blonde, falls in love with Trevor, a soldier.  After they are dating, we see he has crazy dreams like Ashley is an enemy.  Ashely meets her demise, as Trevor kills her in his sleep one night, thinking he was on the battle front.  After Ashley’s funeral, Trevor is seen with another “angel” on the job having coffee and playing cards with her.

Sample text:

Chris was grinning as he took his seat again.  Taylor saw the exchange and smiled.  There was definitely something brewing under the surface there, something between the two of them; they seemed to be at such ease with each other, like an old married couple who’d known and loved each other for years.

“So what else are you going to do during your holidays here, Chris?” asked Taylor.

“Well, I need to be at AVSA at eleven every day so that takes care of my mornings.  I’ll probably try going out, soaking in the sights and do a lot of touristy stuff in the afternoons and evenings.  Maybe you two ladies could be my tour guides.”

“Maybe…I for one, might be busy most evenings, but afternoons sound good.  Taylor can accompany you anywhere,” said Ashley.

“I see, good to know, wouldn’t want to be lonely and purposeless in Hawaii, in Honolulu’s beautiful city, where the girls are so pretty,” said Chris.

“That is so straight out of a movie.  Really, you sound like a walking talking commercial.” said Ashley, laughing.

They kept at it all through lunch.  After lunch, Taylor and Ashley went back to work after saying goodbye to Chris, who returned to his hotel.  The girls had freaked out about Chris and were looking forward to seeing him tomorrow, although Ashley, was looking forward to something else, too.
