Chapter 1.
The Storm.
Grandpa is deemed the mentor and guide of the Fearless Four mainly because two of his granddaughters are part of this distinct group. The adolescents understood what Grandpa’s was communicating to them. He was preparing the youths to face and not fear the unknown.
Grandpa’s nearly seventy and in good health except for a slight case of arthritis in his hip. He never went a day without a morning shave. His noticeable snow white hair was always combed. His sapphire eyes caringly focused on the adolescents. The kids trusted Grandpa knowing the old timer always had a contingency plan.
Grandpa enjoyed watching the sun hoist itself above the horizon and brighten the urban area. This was his valued pleasure watching the birth of a new day come to life. Soon he’d witness the hustling of neighbors departing for their workplaces. Grandpa lean back to relax for he felt no urgency at this time to do anything or go anywhere.
Out of the blue, suddenly something startled Grandpa as he relaxed on his porch chair. A black shadowy mass darted under his chair. At first he thought he might be hallucinating. He said to himself, what the heck was that a strange thing I just witness. Oh God! It was only the family cat announcing he wanted to go in the house.
Grandpa closed his eyes and shook his head, “Oh God it’s only you Dopey.”
His granddaughter Susan came to the screen door when she heard the cat requesting an entry. Susan smiled revealing her blushing pink cheeks when she reacted, “I heard you Dopey. Come on in. Good morning Grandpa. Melvin would like to join you. Is it okay if I let the pooch out?” Susan said brushing the hair from her face.
“Good morning and yes let the dog out,” Grandpa answered with consent. He patted his leg knowing the dog would jump up on his lap.
