The couple was sitting on a bench in the rose garden under the ancient birch tree that sang the rusty fall foliage leaves and upholstered the mats soaked in dew when a thousand-toned rug did not catch the attention of a few wake-up callers who went for a walk with their dogs in the park. The morning chill was suddenly interrupted by a warm ray of sunshine that illuminated the bench like an intensive spotlight until their eyes watered.

The woman held the skinny man's bony hand and looked lovingly into his expressionless blue eyes. She ran her hand over his face from time to time, and, with a brush, his white beard bristles popped out of his pinkish skin, adding grace to his beautiful face.

"Elia," the woman turned to him, "do you know me?"

He turned his face at her, and his forehead contracted slightly as if trying to remember, but he kept glancing at her, not speaking.

"Do you remember the day we met? I am Greta."

No muscle moved in his face, but suddenly, he grabbed her hand tightly and whispered, "Greta..."
