Inappropriate chewing should be fixed while they are still young as it is easier at this point. The first thing that you need to do is to make sure your home is safe. Household cleaners and dangerous chemicals should be placed in high places where they are out of reach. Hide objects that may spark their curiosity like wires, cables, shoes, or kid's’ toys. Dogs should also have appropriate playthings so they won’t chew on household items.
If this does not correct the behavior, attention could be the cause, and this can be dealt with symptomatically at first by crate training them. This should be done only while you are out and ensuring that when you are home that you spend time with them. Crates come in handy because they are like a den and calm the dog. The dog also can not destroy your house while they are safely contained. They should never be used as a punishment nor as a place to put your dog when you are at home.
